Field Dry Density Tests are a bunch of tests done on the soil where the construction has to be done. A quality control test, FDD test is done to determine the increased compaction or density of the soil layer.
Significance
As compaction of the soil usually increases the shear strength of the soil, it also increases the stability and load-bearing capacity of the foundation. FDD is carried out multiple times during the earthwork phase of the construction.
